July 20, 2019

On Saturday the Company handled multiple calls for service, the morning started with an accident at Hibernia Rd. and Brandywine Dr. in West Brandywine Twp. There the Rescue and fire police assisted the East Brandywine Fire Company on a 2 vehicle accident.

Crews secured the hazards and contained the spilled fluids and assisted where needed prior to being released by Chief 49, Fire Police remained and were later released once the scene was clear.

After clearing that call the Chief and Squad both handled 2 medical calls for service, Then the Chief was notified of a water issue at the Imperial Mobile Home Park off Rt. 340. Working with the Township's Emergency Management and elected officials, the company went to the community and set up a water station for residents to obtain water from our tanker to have the ability to flush toilets and wash up on this extremely hot day. Tanker 35 and the crew filled many containers for the residents and was later replaced by a water tender from PA American water.

Then at 19:20 hours the company along with mutual aid were dispatched for the house fire box in the 100 block of Spring Hill Lane, caller was reporting smoke in the kitchen from an unknown source. Crews arrived and determined the incident to be food in the Microwave and scaled the incident back to Engine 35 and Lancaster Engine 49-1 with Ambulance 144 checking the resident.

Then later that night at 22:49 Hours the company was dispatched to the 800 block of Cedar Knoll Rd for the reported water heater fire. Units arrived and found the water heater had shorted and was the cause of the incident. Crews secured power to the heater and advised resident to have it replace. Crews cleared the call around 23:30 hours.

Crews did a great job as the heat index was well over 100 degrees all day, our thoughts are with those involved in the incidents today.

Units: Engine, Rescue, Tanker, Squad and Chief's along with Ambulance 144

Mutual Aid: 49 (East Brandywine), 33 (Honey Brook), 31 (Sadsburyville), 41 (Coatesville FD), 48 (Glenmoore) and Lancaster 49 Whitehorse, West Caln and West Brandywine PD
