Water Supply Training

By Wagontown Volunteers
June 13, 2019

On Wednesday members set out with the apparatus to do some rural water supply training as well as evaluate our abilities to deliver a certain amount of water for a certain amount of time to simulate an initial fire attack.

One of the main test's we wanted to validate was the ability to meet the 250 gallons per minute for 15 minutes based upon the ISO requirements for Water Supply. Using the Engine's 750 gallons of water along with Tanker 35's 3,000 gallons we were able to achieve that goal and more.

Using the ISO requirements of 250 gallons a minute we were able to flow for 15 minutes, using what we flow for 2 hand lines at 300 gallons per minute we were over 10 minutes, thus doubling the required flow of ISO.

Also during these tests members were using the hand lines and showing our junior members what the types of patterns and flows are.

Engine 35 was also able to pick up a draft from a stand still and provide water to the hand lines in under 1 minute. This exceeding the requirement of 2 minutes from arrival onscene of a fire establishing a fire flow.

This was a great training as drivers got to dump into the fold-a-tank that West Bradford provided for use along with their tanker for the evening as well the refresher on the pump panels of the apparatus.

Wagontown would like to thank West Bradford Fire Company for assisting us with this training.

Units: Engine 35, Rescue 35, Traffic 35 and Tanker 35

Mutual Aid: Tanker 39
