January 11, 2019

At 19:06 Hours multiple fire companies were dispatched Friday night for a structure fire in the 500 block of Dogwood Lane in Caln Township. The small street runs off of Acorn Lane from Black Horse Hill Road in the rural section of Caln Township adjacent to the VA property.

VAFD Engine 76 arrived minutes after being dispatched and advised of a one story rancher with fire showing from the attached garage. Ladder 412 arrived followed by Rescue 35 and Engine 495. Crews went to work stretching handlines into the home along with to the garage side of the residence in an effort to contain and extinguish the fire. As additional companies arrived their crews were put to work in various capacities on the fire grounds providing support to the suppression effort underway.

This area of Caln like much of the areas we protect have a lack of fire hydrants, this being the case a tanker task force was dispatched bringing a number of tankers to the scene to provide a water supply to the incident.

Crews worked and the fire was officially placed under control at 1951, and crews continued to mop up and assist the investigators from the Chester County Fire Marshal's office. Crews left the scene at 22:18 hours and finally left the fire station a little before midnight after the cleanup of equipment.

Wagontown would like to thank the members of the Whitehorse Fire Company for covering our area while we assisted Thorndale. Also thank you to all who sent pictures to us to use including IrishEyez Emergency Services Photography.

Units: Engine 35, Rescue 35 and Traffic 35

Mutual Aid: Thorndale and multiple other companies onscene
