October 10, 2018

On Wednesday night members hosted an open house in celebration of Fire Prevention week. Members arrived and set up various displays for those who attended, these displays included what type of fire gear we wear to an incident. The juniors assisted with showing a Cub Scout troop who joined us along with the many residents as well as those who just came out to enjoy the night with us. Once the gear portion was completed, the members went over equipment we carry and tools we use as well as specialized equipment we carry.

The parents mingled around and were shown our apparatus and answered questions in regards to how we are funded and the amount of training we had to have. Some of things noted was the amount of training our members take, since becoming a PA State Fire Commissioners Office Participating Department in 2009, our members have attended a vast amount of training.

At About 8 o'clock we all went down to the rear of the firehouse for a Christmas tree demonstration on what could happen if you don't care for your tree, this was coupled with the theme of this years Fire Prevention of Look, Listen and Learn program.. We also took time to review the latest video from NIST is regards to keeping your doors closed. The importance of this as it increases you ability to survive a fire event, and will allow a safer environment to be in should you become trapped in a fire situation.

The night concluded at 9 PM and Wagontown would like to thank all that came out and made our event such a success, we look forward to next year's events.
