Training Continues Wildland Firefighting Part II

By Wagontown Fire Company Training Division
April 11, 2018

Last night Wagontown members finished their annual Wildland Fire training behind the firehouse. The training was Part II of our annual Wildland refresher training. Wagontown is known for its involvement in the Wildland fire working closely with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources on many incidents and having our own crew made up largely of members of the company. So keeping our skills up are just as important as our Structural side as well.

So tonight members assisted with clearing an area of our property, members first laid out hose lines to control the fire we were going to use to clear the area. What this did was provide a containment area for the area to be burned.

Lastly members then discussed smoke behavior, fire behavior and safety while operating on these incidents. All along continual monitoring and safety was paramount. Once the area that was requested to be cleared was done, members then fully extinguished the fire and followed up with cold trailing and walking the burn area to ensure the fire was out.

Crews then wrapped up the equipment and returned to station to finish the cleanup.

Units: Engine 35, Brush 35-1, TAC 35 and Brush 35-2
